1) My Cubic Zirconias
I have an average size pair of cubic zirconias that my mom got me for freshman homecoming, and I haven’t stopped wearing them since. I have plenty of other pairs of earrings that I could wear that are beautiful, but I am just too attached to my cubic zirconias! I do crawl out of my comfort zone sometimes and swap them for a sharper set of bobbles. I also love miniature pearl studs, but I lost my first pair, and my second pair broke after a year.
2) Oxford Heels
I have been obsessed with oxford heels since I was in elementary school, and I have yet to get a pair. It’s hard to find a pair that is reasonably priced, and when I do find a pair, there’s usually something else I feel inclined to buy first. I had a beautiful pair saved recently on Amazon, but they sold out. I love their vintage ladylike vibe. I’ll get a pair eventually.
3) Business/Evening Dresses
I love dresses--period. Except shift dresses. Something about a classic dress fit for the office has a way of making one feel very official and all about business. That’s the effect it has on me at least. Evening dresses steal my heart because they are so versatile: they come in long, short, fitted, loose, and are made for anyone. Short, fitted evening dresses (and sometimes long, fitted) evening dresses are my choice because they can be worn to a black tie event such as an awards ceremony or to a party: a dress that has two talents in one? Yes please.
Body art is a sweet friend of style as it can tie together a particular look or serve as jewelry. I have never had a henna tattoo, but they are pretty and perfect for anyone with dashes of boho in their heart. I have two tattoos that both have personal meaning to me that are noticeable and subtle at the same time; one is on my inner wrist and the other is under my collar bone. To me, my tattoos are truth, fashion, style, and art. Body glitter is another avenue for body art if you like a little sparkle. I do!
5) Tank Tops
I stated very early on in a blog post that I love tank tops. Whether you refer to them as tank tops, camisoles, or spaghetti straps, I am referring to them universally. They are comfortable, affordable, lightweight, and serve multiple purposes. Tanks can be dressed up or down, worn to work out in, or even serve as a bra substitute if you want to ditch your traditional brassiere but still want some support. Sometimes I just grab a tank top, a light cardigan or shrug, heels (or flats), my black skinny jeans, and just go.
6) My Black Skinny Jeans
I talk about my black skinny jeans all the time. They are the only jeans I need. I wore my first pair so often that the folds began to fade and one ripped open. I had them for two years though. I replaced them last year with a black pair of jeggings that my mom bought me (you rock mom), and they are perfect. Except for the fact that I have a strip of Krazy Glue on them from trying to repair a pair of old boots. Even better, I got glue all over the boots. The jeans are still kicking though.
Sunglasses can dress up any outfit. I started wearing them my freshman year in high school, and my eyes have become so sensitive to sunlight that I can’t leave the house without them. This is actually a good thing because sunglasses do protect your eyes from the sun and can aid in preventing vision loss or eye problems because of their lovely shielding effect.
8) Gift Cards
Gift cards are special because they give me the freedom to buy what you want and are personalized gifts with thought behind them as they are usually tailored to a particular shop/store. I just got one in the mail yesterday!
As many of you know, I use Polyvore to create the collections on my Collections page. I also use Polyvore sometimes to show you items that I don’t have but make reference to. It’s an amazing website and resource for all things fashion, and it’s a fun community as well. I could get lost for hours on the site if I had the time. But, I’d most likely get a headache from the computer light so that wouldn’t happen.
10) Fashion Shows
Fashion shows curate some of the best of fashion and style into a display of excellence saturated with lights, music, and beauty. One of the best things about labels such as Versace is that they plug their live fashion shows to their website so you can watch from home!
All of us are inspired by something that influences the way we dress. Even if your inspiration is not caring what you wear at all, it still serves as inspiration. Some of the most intriguing forms of inspiration come from food, nature, art, music, and movies. Mark by Marc Jacobs featured an Alice and Wonderland collection last fall.
12) Anything Metallic Or Shiny
Metallic and shiny pieces are both futuristic and vintage. If it’s got sequins and/or looks like different shades when it turns, it gets an A on my list.
I am not subscribed to Seventeen, but it is special to me; when I was younger, my sister (who is ten years older) was subscribed, and she passed her 20+ issues off to me at some age that I cannot remember when she deemed me old enough to read them. I enjoy aspects of Seventeen such as their various recommendations of stores/products, and their website is fun too; it’s a great place for general knowledge of topics and has plenty of fun reads.
A good deal is a good deal. What more can I say?
