and be careful with your cup because THE TEA IS HOT TODAY.
The photo above is from a few days back. I wanted a simple yet flawless natural makeup look, so I stuck to using only my foundation, concealer, powder, and lipgloss. Everything was fine until I put on my concealer. The concealer is great; it applies beautifully, it's mattifying, it's magical, etc.. The sad part is that as of now, it will be the last concealer from the brand that I will buy.
You may or may not have figured it out yet, but I am talking about Tarte's Shape Tape Concealer but mostly Tarte as a whole. I bought my first concealer from Fiona Stiles, and there's nothing wrong with it. My only tiff is that it is a potted concealer, and I wanted something liquid so that I would not tug on my under eye so much trying to blend a dry concealer on my face. I decided to try Shape Tape as it is apparently the number one concealer in America and previously approved by my favorite beauty gurus. As I mentioned earlier, Shape Tape is great. I will say, when I bought my first Shape Tape, I was put off a little; there were only two shades darker than the one I was using.
Not everyone uses concealer for brightening. Some use it in conjunction with their foundation strictly to conceal, so they get the same shade as their foundation, which is what I did with Shape Tape (and my first concealer). It is clear that my skin is deep, but my skin is not very dark, so to only have two shades darker than mine is not having a shade for everyone. Even if the other two shades are on the deeper end of the spectrum, that would mean that there are shades in between that are missing from the range. Nonetheless I bought it.
I was even more put off when Tarte released the swatches for their Shape Tape Foundation. There is probably a 9/10 chance that you've seen the swatches/heard about them, but if not, search them them come back here. Long story short, Tarte is clearly catering to only one group of people, and anyone of color will have to wait in line until Tarte comes out with more shades...are we that irrelevant to you Tarte? Are we secondary?
Again, I'm not the least bit perfect. I will support brands that you do and brands that you don't. However, when it comes to brands I support, I try to stick to ones that are inclusive (because EVERYONE matters and is equal), give back whether it be to the community or their fans, put out quality products, and that aren't shady. What I mean is, be who you are and be proud to show it. Don't pretend to be something you aren't or portray yourself as one way when you're really the opposite. Be authentic.
I don't care that Tarte is coming out with more foundation shades. What was released was released on purpose, and I know somebody in their right mind was like: If we release this product right now, like this, with this range, there will be outrage.
Tarte, no. Just no. You can kiss my dollars goodbye. As of now, I will use the remainder of my Tarte products that I have...unless I replace them with something else.
Thank you lovelies,
I hope you are enjoying these discussion posts as much as I am.
Unleash your magic.
