Vogue September 2015 like most Vogue editions is beautifully presented with the latest ads from luxury designers as well as more common designers with articles on style and world issues combined that relate to today's needs.
Side note: I have many posts regarding topics such as shopping on a budget, styling under $50, not spending any money at all, and not needing name brands, but to me, the epitome of fashion is not shunning either spectrum of the scale regarding affordable vs. luxury, but embracing them both in regards to your style needs without spending all of your savings which is why I do refer to Vogue and others.
The ads in Vogue share a diverse range on designers and models giving the prime of the fashion word. What took me a bit by surprise was how much pure celebrity culture reigned across my fall issue. This fall edition features Beyoncé. She is a dominating force in the music world, but she is not a style icon to me. Beyoncé, whose Met Gala 2015 dress was basically the same as Kim Kardashian's and Jennifer Lopez's shows how her semi-see-through mermaid gown was generic and overused. There are many times when Beyoncé has dressed top notch, but I don't see any defining factors today about her style that differentiates from others.
More celebrity power in this issue goes between Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. Neither girl is brand new to the modeling game and both hold high positions, but the model arena in this issue was a bit skewed. I do not doubt in any way that both girls worked hard to climb to the top of the modeling realms, but I do believe that their celebrity status of their families regarding reality TV gave them a helping hand. Not only is Kendall the star of an Estée Lauder ad where her name is posted high at the top, but she is presented in multiple shots from Fendi and holds a significant space towards the end presenting textiles for this season. Gigi is not featured quite as often, but both girls along with a few other high title gals are ranked among heavy influential individuals in fashion and receive high praise. Both Gigi and Kendall are in a few striking ads by Balmain with their sisters and look both stunning and fierce, and Gigi always sets a strong stage for each brand she presents. Despite this I would have enjoyed including a wider range of model recognition alongside Kylie and Gigi that was not celebrity heavy.
A few of my favorites who brought it for this fall/winter (in no particular order) are
1)Céline- Always elegant with simple ads. There's a quality view of the clothing. She's bringing back trench coats.
2)Hermès- The themes are gorgeous just like the clothing. They feature sharp images and breathe Paris through each piece. Their scarves are of people and places with a vintage twist as well as animal print blends on silk.
3)Dolce & Gabbana- Very fun ads with signature vintage floral. I never know what to expect, but from women on bicycles to gentlemen and guitars, I am never dissapointed. Their photos are so fun!
4) Versace- Can you say #stunner. Versace brings new quality to the table at ease with apple green and fire red.
A thumbs up to Vogue for advertising Amazon and H&M--they are well rounded which is rare when it comes to luxury brands leading.
The fall fashion season has some reoccurring themes with camouflage (your all in one neutrals pack), thick textiles, snake and alligator prints/skins, and all things burgundy. I finally picked a subscription from Vogue to save money and will be receiving a faux alligator print (cruelty free, yay!!) purse which is right with this seasons loves. I'm not a fan of keeping up with trends, but when I have something that is trending, I just embrace it.
Honorable mentions go out to Dior who has some pop art-like glossy animal print like nothing I've seen before. Max Mara is such a flawless brand whose campaign presents Gigi Hadid in a beautiful buff coat. Moschino sets their own arena as well as Tom Ford. Giuseppe Zanotti shares all black looks with a stunning high slit skirt right up my alley; it has a Chanelesque scene like this outfit that I wore to school this week (below).
Thank you lovelies,
