The most useful item, aka the foundation of your back to school kit, is a purse, bag or satchel. Call it what you please--all of them are quite Gucci. I have a mint green purse that I carry daily, and I pack everything on planet Earth in it. I don't own anything mint green besides this purse except a pair of Converse, but it goes great with everything. When choosing a purse, neutral colors rock because they can match with many outfits, but fun colors can be beneficial as well because they can make a dull outfit pop. My purse is not huge or small, but it has lots of pockets and room for daily necessities. A purse is so handy for back to school to hold toiletries, accessories, notepads, pens, snacks, and more. If you use it daily and need it outside of the house, pack it in your purse!!
Runner up is a jacket. If your style is anything like mine then you occasionally wear jeans and jackets in the summer even if it is 100 degrees. I keep a jacket with me because I get so cold in grocery stores, classrooms, and basically all buildings. Despite this, fall is my favorite season. With that being said, a jacket is ideal for those unexpected cold bursts; soft jackets with hoods are perfect for school because they provide comfort and can act as mini blankets for on the go coziness. The jacket that I usually keep with me is a soft gray hooded zip up jacket, but I have other jackets as well that I style with particular outfits so they don't hinder my fashion vibe even if i get cold.
The third and fourth items go hand and hand: flats and flip flops.
I have a green pair of flats that I drive in on days that I wear heels. A few of my heels are 5.5/6 inches, and I do not want to drive in those! Even if I have lower heels, I prefer to drive in my flats because I have more control over the gas. I've had my green flats for three years, but they are still cute and add a dainty look to any outfit. If I'm wearing heels and it starts raining, I can exchange my pumps for my flats so that I don't get injured in my heels or damage my heels. The flats keep the outfit stylish as well.
I'm bringing a black plastic pair of flip flops to school for days that I wear heels as well. I usually eat lunch outside, and if I wear my heels, I will sink! In case you're not sure what I mean, the heels go straight through the dirt, grass, etc., and your balance will be at risk. Flip flops are quick and easy to slide on, and I won't care about them getting dirty. Because they are black, they will always match and not distract, and they can be flaunted with confidence with a fresh pedicure! Wearing flip flops during lunch and such will provide further benefits as they will give my feet a break for 30 minutes or however long I choose to wear them.
To complete the collection is the lovely umbrella! Regardless of expectations, it can rain at any time. For those who have to go outside to change classes, umbrellas are handy on cloudy days in case it rains. It is a sad sight when the bell has rung and a crowd of people are huddled together under a small outside shelter and are late to class due to the rain. Some days I go outside and stand in it, but sometimes I want to stay dry--especially when I'm trying to get to class. I had a beautiful cerulean umbrella from Paris with a black lace trim, but unfortunately it broke. It provided a stunning elegance when I wore it and got lots of compliments. I now own a mini paisley patterned umbrella that I can fit in my purse, and I have a very sturdy black one as well. Umbrellas not only assist in style, but they keep your outfit in tact as well!
I also own this tiny adorable pink umbrella (below) that my sister got me a few years ago.
Have an amazing day:)
