Since next month is my birthday (November 19th), and Balmain x H&M comes out next month (*screeches*), I have already created a hypothetical shopping cart of the items that I want, but I have just viewed the prices, and I know that I can not get them all. To cope with this reality as well as other shopping dilemmas in the past, I came up with a guide (below photos) for getting the best out of your (hypothetical) shopping cart. Not all of these steps will be easy, so take the time that you need.
Establishing a budget is the most important and often overlooked step. It is so much harder to let go of the items you can not afford if you do not already have a budget in place. Having a budget makes it easier to pick out items within that range and eliminate those that surpass.
#2 Fill, Fill, Fill-
Fill up that cart with any items you want that fall within your budget as individual items. Do you like it? Do you want it? Add it to your cart.
Thoroughly look over all of the items that you added in #2. Notice what really stands out to you. Observe and take note of the items that you find most appealing. What items do you like more than others? What are the most original/unique pieces? Examine it all.
#4 Repeat #3-
Take a break for a few seconds or minutes, come back, and examine again.
#5 Remove the most and least expensive items-
What?! Remove items?! I know. It has to be done. Without stopping to admire the items, delete the most expensive and least expensive off the list. This way, you are not spending all you have, and you are not settling either. There can be exceptions...sometimes.
-------------------Whenever you reach a price that you are comfortable with, you are ready to purchase your items.----------------------
#6 Examine Again-
Examine again. Going back over what you picked out will really help you narrow things down in the long run--some things will start to lose their appeal.
#7 Remove the Most Logical Item-
Aka, the boring item.
#8 Delete the First Three Items at the Top of Your List-
If your list happens to be that long. I have had lists this long.
#9 Repeat Steps #3-8 Until You Reach an Overall Price that You are Comfortable With.
#10 Admire Your Masterpiece and Claim Your Reward.
Congratulations. You have just accomplished something magnificent. It is now time to reap your reward by purchasing your items with your own money.
Thank you lovelies,
