I love dresses. My relationship with dresses has been: love them; hate them; and now I love them again. I own 19 dresses, and I'll probably get more in the future. These magnificent frocks are comfortable, and there are many that are reasonably priced. Dresses are the thing to wear when I get into my, "None of these clothes look good on me!!!" mood. Below I have 10 of my 19 dresses that I enjoy wearing, and I have divided them into the categories: Formal/Casual, Formal, and Casual depending on where I wear them.
The black dress below is my most recently purchased dress, and I couldn't be happier with it. It's form fitting around the chest and waist area, and it flows out at the bottom. It is stretchy, soft, and it goes with many of my shoes and accessories! I got it from T.J. Maxx for less than $20. This dress is Formal/Casual because I can dress it up with some wedges, heels or even sandals for a formal event. It is also casual because I can dress it down with some cute Converse, other tennis shoes, and a denim vest for a chic-sporty-urban look.
My blue dress (below) is a little big, but I could not pass it up because it was on sale for $12 at Old Navy! It is a very simple dress, and the length gives it a sense of elegance. I have worn it with Converse and enjoy its versatility to go with dress shoes and sneakers.
My friends tease that the black and white striped dress below is scandalous because of the see-through lace midsection, but I reply, "Nothing inappropriate is being shown". I will admit that it draws attention, but the form is beautiful and classy. I have not worn this dress with casual shoes, but paired with some sneakers will be sure to give it an original skater look. It is from Belk. Price? Unknown. To me at least.
I have a confession. The dress below is a swim cover up. But it is also a dress... and a skirt... and its reversible. Its multiple clothing usages is what drew me to it in the first place. I got it from Walmart for about $10. I wear a black half sweater cover up with it at school which gives it a sweet and dainty look. Outside of school I get to wear it strapless as seen below. I usually wear it with whatever pair of shoes I'm feeling at the moment.
This patterned dress (below) is from Target and cost $26. It is form fitting, long, and very vibrant. It's too dressy to be a casual, but I have worn it to school; dressing up is so much fun!!!
I wore this pastel colored dress (below) to Honors/May Day Freshman year. I got it from Target and paid around $25 for it. I like the v-neck look; I don't see a lot of dresses with those. It has a white raised pattern on it, and its really pretty for spring and summer.
I got this dress (below) from Maurices, and it cost around $30. I wore it last month to my sophomore Honors/May Day. I was so excited to get this dress because I think pastel colors are beautiful, but I don't own that many. The things that I seem to like the most is what I have the least of in my closet! That just makes those items even more special. Anyway, this dress is nice for summer as well, and the open back allows cool air to pass through the thick material.
I got this dress in the eighth grade, and I am definitely getting my money's worth. Actually, it's my mom's money's worth because she bought it. It's from Belk, but I'm not really sure how much it costs. I have worn this dress so many times that I can give you a list of when and where I've worn it. The material is very thin and I just think its so cute.
My grey and white striped dress below as well as the dress that follows were mentioned in a previous post but were given little coverage. The dress below is from Old Navy and it was less thank $20. I have not worn it that often, but I do like how it is a bit longer than my other dresses because I don't own a lot of long dresses. The really long dresses that I've tried on were Maxi, and I hated them. They're cute dresses, but they don't work for me. All I can say is #frumpyalert
The coral and gray striped dress below has probably been worn the most out of all my dresses. I wear this classic everywhere. Whether I'm making a quick run to the store, going out for lunch, going to school, or going literally anywhere, I will most likely throw on this dress when I don't feel like creating an outfit. It is from Belk; I do not know the price.
Dresses are my thing. I have many things that I call my thing, but today was the dresses' turn to be recognized. I cannot fully explain my enjoyment of these pieces of fabric, but aside from my black skinny jeans that I wear multiple days in a row, these are my go to outfits. Do you wear dresses? If so, what makes a dress a winner in your eyes?
